Hi Brenda and other listers:
Thank you for your help!
I have not collected much on the Bowles Families of St. Mary's Co., MD. From
what I can tell by my research on the Bowes Family, they are not in the same
family line (at least in the time frame of Timothy's children). The Bowes,
Bowles, and Bowling families seem to keep up a connection with each other in
St. Mary's Co., MD. Really makes me wonder if they are cousins or uncles of
Timothy Bowes that came to Maryland earlier than Timothy. I am trying to
research Timothy Bowes in London; thinking he may possibly have been born in
London to Joseph and Dorothy Bowes. Hoping to find the connection with the
land in Great Britian left by Samuel Bowes (son of Timothy and Mary Ann) to
his Simms nieces.
It is speculation that Timothy Bowes' wife, Mary Ann, was an Abell but no
real proof has come to light besides a possible Will written in 1795
Washington Co., KY by Samuel Abell that mentions a Mary Ann Bowes. I still
have to get a copy of that will as of yet.
As for the Greenwells, I am connected to the Greenwell's of St. Mary's Co.,
MD and Meade Co., KY through Bennett Greenwell (Rev War), the son of George
and Elizabeth Greenwell. Bennett had a brother Ignatius born in 1750 but I
have him married to a Monica Roack (probably got this marriage from the
Greenwell book). I'll have to see how this Ignatius Greenwell (b. 1757)
connects with my Greenwell. Maybe I have something in my Greenwell file that
may surprise me!
Thank you for supplying this information! Everyone's help is much
