Subject: [MDCHARLE-L] Re: [MDSTMARY-L] Johnson, McDaniel, Bowling, Canter
I also have McDaniel, too and could use help with that...or vice
Joseph Johnson, b. Charles Co, MD abt 1754, son of Hewitt Johnson and ?
Joseph Johnson m Susanna? He died leaving a will in Washington Co, KY bef
28 Mar 1826.
Mentioned in his will is my ggggrandfather, William Bowling (executor of his
estate and husband of Joseph's daughter, Monica Johnson). Also mentioned are
several children and grandchildren:
Will of Joseph Johnston, decd.
Will written 15 Feb 1826; probated 28 Mar 1826; Will Book D-146
Leg: Grandson George Bowls, daughter Elizabeth Bowls, grandson James
Bowling, daughter Monica Bowling, granddaughter Polly Johnston,
Canter and his two sisters now in the city of Washington.
Grandchildren Joseph Laymon, Kitty Ann and Elizabeth Bowling, and children of
Elizabeth Bowls: Hullett, Kitty, Hethedler, Cynthia Ann Bowls.
Son John and grandchildren: Alatilda, Kitty, Alexander, Lucretia and Mary
Ex: Son John and William Bowling
Wit: Thomas Green, John X Hinton, Thomas Craycroft
Signed: Joseph Johnston
I am trying to find the parents of Alatilda (Matilda?), Kitty (Catherine?)
Lucretia and Mary McDaniels....was Elizabeth married before, I wonder. I know
that Monica probably was not.
I know Joseph has a son, John Johnson; two daughters, Monica Johnson Bowling
and Elizabeth Johnson Bowles. He obviously had two other daughters, one who
married a Canter and one who married a McDaniel. The city of Washington
to Washington DC.
John H. Johnson, I believe married Lucinda Berry and I have 7 children listed.
Monica Johnson m. William Bowling and I have 8 children for them.
Elizabeth Johnson m. Joseph Bowles and they lived near William and Monica
Bowling. Joseph and Elizabeth had:
George, Hewlett, Kitty, Hethedler (sp?), and Cynthia Ann Bowls. I have been
able to identify them as:
George Washington Bowles
James Hewitt Bowles
Catherine R. Bowles
Cynthia Ann Bowles
and three more children born later: Teresa, Sevilla and Jane.
The question now is who are the Canter and McDaniel grandchildren Joseph
mentions in his will.
