QRYTEXT: CHESTER A (BUD) BOWLING was born in Jackson MO in 1979
according to the LDS records. My CHESTER A BOWLING lived in ANDREW CO in
1927. He had twins, CHARLES CHESTER and DORA LOU BOWLIN. CHESTER'S wife
was DORA REILLY or a similar spelling. We are trying to find out if this
is the same man. CHESTER A (BUD) BOWLING'S father was JOHN WESLEY
BOWLING, mother ELIZABETH HEDRICK. One record shows that he was married,
but does not show wife or children. Our CHESTER A. left his family in
1928. We are fairly sure that this is the same one, but need records.
Please contact me if you know about this family.

Subject: [BOWLES] More Trivia
In the 1840 census, Revolutionary War veterans were identified by
name and age. I found these three:
Samuel Bowles, age 90, Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri (with Thomas
Thomas Bowles, age 78, Northern Division, Orange County, North
Carolina (with Thomas Bowles)
Benjamin Boles, age 83, West Pee Dee River, Montgomery County, North
Carolina (with Benjamin Boles)
I checked spellings of Bowls, Bolles, Bows, and Bolls without success.
Benjamin Boles is listed as Benjamin Bowles on his pension
application digitized on Heritage Quest. In it, a Mrs. Edna Bowles
Bates of West LaFayette, Indiana received a response to her inquiry
about Benjamin in 1934.
Thomas Bowles of Orange County NC, on a pension application at
Heritage Quest, is listed with wife Nancy Anne Davis. She filed
widow's claim in 1847. In it, Nancy declares that she married Thomas
in 1791, and that they had these children: Thomas, b. 12 Aug 1792;
Jane, b. 16 Jan 1795; Elizabeth, b. 30 Apr 1796; Ann, b. 7 Jun 1799;
Sarah, b. 13 Feb 1801. She also indicated that her husband Thomas
died on 22 Jan 1847. According to the documentation included, Thomas
was born in Lancaster County PA, and was taken by his parents to
Orange County NC at the age of about 18 months. A Ruth Bowles of
Litchfield IL inquired about him in 1940.
According to pension papers, Samuel Bowles appears to have married a
Nancy Powell in 1815 in Worshester County, Maryland. Samuel was in
Bourbon County KY when his name was put on the roll for a pension.
Then in 1839 he gave oath in Calloway County MO where he had "lately
removed" to be near his children. His pension papers indicate that as
of 13 Nov 1832, he was "aged 82 years on the 17th day of March next."
He began his service at Lewistown in Sussex County, Delaware as a
privateer. Samuel died in May 1841.
There was a Thomas Bowles in 1850 Callaway County MO, age 40, born in
MD, with wife, Louisa, age 21 and two children: Nancy, age 1; and
Joseph, age 4 months. This is probably the son of Samuel.
