shows Elijah W. Bowles was born 24 Feb. 1819, third child of Malinda and
John F. Bowles. He married by Thos J. MaloneAug 26 1841 Elizabeth A.
Debow. Sur. Robert Love Consent given August 24 1841. Sixteen pages of
the report. Then a page on the recording of Anderson Bowles' will
1811.Then three pages of the divorce suit File # 2625 filed October 16
1860. Covers allegations of Elijah's violent behavior and threats. Elijah
owned 250 acres of land worth $1250, plus other items, including a still
and store of apple brandy, which he was allegedly about to sell, with the
intent to cheat her. Restraining order issued, and yougest child,
Franklin W. Bowles delivered to Mother. They had five living children:
Capiranda F, John Allen, Elizabeth Malinda, Patsey C. Copranda (sic) the
eldest, is ca.sixteen, Franklin W. born 27 Sept 1858. This typed record
was put together by a " GBW" and came from the Ft Worth Library. William
Love was Eliz.'s uncle. The Cox child was about 16 months old..

Harry, I had no ideal this divorce was granted, can you give me some
dates. Elijah has a son James Melton b.1861. My thoughts were that
Elizabeth was his mother because he is listed in some census after
with Elizabeth. Can't find the child with Jincy Cox either which
born 1858-59 ?
Also a request for divorce from Elizabeth A.
Bowles against Elijah W. Bowles Oct 16 1860 in Barren Co for
