From the Thomas Bowles book by Inez Bowles:
John Bowles was a Babtist preacher. He moved to Missouri
in 1820 with John B. Longan, a double brother-in-law,
Jesse Bowles and Johnathan Maxey, a Babtist preacher. Rev.
Maxey was a brother-in-law of John Bowles and John Longan.
John Longan, John Maxey and Jesse Bowles settled SE of
Boonville, at or near Pisgah, Mo. John Bowles settled west
of Boonville, later moving to Dade Co., Mo.
John Bowles married Elizabeth Longan, sister of John
Longan. THEIR son, Philip Webber Bowles came to Missouri
with his parents and on Feb. 10, 1812 married Margaret Jane
Wilson, daughter of Polly ann Black. Polly was born in Ky
in 1792 and died in 1851. Is buried near Versailles, Mo.
Another son of John and Elizabeth, Thomas, born in Hanover
Co., Va., married Hulda Stockstill.
I hope this clears some things up for you Susan. If there
