Shannon Lee (Glenn) Wasell, 47, "went to be with her Lord Jesus," on
Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at her home in Kalispell, surrounded by her
family and friends after a courageous, two year battle with cancer.
She faced her illness fearlessly, without complaint and with
unwavering faith. She was born on Nov. 13, 1959, to Pat and Alice
Glenn in Seattle, and grew up in the Enumclaw, Wash., area. She
graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1977, and attended Highline
Community College. For many years Shannon worked at Leo's Clothing
Store in downtown Enumclaw.
She married the love of her life, Greg Wasell, on July 29, 1978. One
of Shannon's greatest joys was being the mother of Kellen, now 20 and
Shannon's "faith and love for her Lord Jesus" led her and Greg to be
active in Faith Center of Buckley and later joined Rainier Hills
Fellowship Church in Buckley, Wash. She loved young people because
they reflected her own vibrancy. She was involved with numerous
King's Kids outreach teams. Her creative talents led her to be
involved in women's ministries where her style, touch and ideas were
a blessing to many. Shannon loved to entertain and was known for
throwing wonderful theme parties. Shannon's homes have always been a
reflection of her unique style, welcoming people with warmth and
making them feel comfortable. She was a great cook.
In 1994, Shannon and Greg moved to Puyallup, Wash., as houseparents
of New Beginnings Maternity Home. Here she influenced the lives of
many young women in crisis situations. After four years they moved to
Lakeside and joined Youth With A Mission as Youth Coordinators. Her
impact there and the lives she touched continue to be felt by many.
In 2001, Shannon and Greg moved to Kalispell where she enjoyed living
in the historic east side neighborhood. Shannon had a passion and joy
for life. She had a keen sense of justice, and walked out her faith
with integrity, affirming and accepting others. She brought vitality
into relationships which she highly valued and this was demonstrated
by her loyalty and commitment to her family and many friends. She
mentored people, bringing encouragement and hope, seeking the best
for them. Shannon's kind heart and contagious laugh will never be
forgotten and sorely missed.
Shannon is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Glenn Anoskey; her
grandparents; and her uncle, Mike Glenn.
She is survived by her loving husband, Greg; son, Kellen; daughter,
Meisa; father, Patrick and stepmother, Terry Glenn; sisters, Kelly
and George Boles, Erin and Greg Spaulding; brother, Tom Glenn; and
