MRS. RUTH A. BOWLES - Submitted by Charlotte Lamb Bennett
Mrs. Ruth A. Bowles, 79, a resident of Caney, died early this morning in the Caney
Municipal Hospital. She was admitted on August 19.
She was born Dec. 28, 1895 at Wagoner, OK., the daughter of Benjamin and Suzy (Miser)
Payne. She had lived in the Niotaze area most of her life. She had lived in Caney for
several years. On January 6, 1912 at Sedan, she married to Floyd Bowles, who survives at
the home. She was a member of the Christian Church in Niotaze.
Survivors, in addition to the widower of the home, include three daughters, Mrs. Dee
Todd of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Lesley Ferris of Emporia, and Mrs. Robert Phelan of Utica,
N. Y.; a son Clifford, of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday in the Graves Funeral Home with burial in
Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze.

Floyd Bowles, 88, of Caney died Saturday in the Caney Rest Home. He was born April 11,
1890 at Niotaze to John & Mildred (Kilbourn) Bowles. He lived in Niotaze before moving
to Caney in 1972.
On January 6, 1912 at Sedan he married Ruth Payne. She died August 28, 1975.
He was a member of the Niotaze Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leslie Ferris of Emporia, Mrs. Dee Todd of
Caney, Mrs. Robert Phelan of Sylban, NY.; one son Clifford, of Denver; seven
grandchildren, 20 grandchildren; and a half sister, Mrs. John King of Tampa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Graves Funeral Home at Caney, with
burial in Fairview Cemetery at Niotaze.
