Hi all
I am researching my great grandmother born Emily Brown who on marriage
became Emily Woodward. Her marriage was around 1880-82 (first child born
Risca in 1882) and she appears in the 1891 census in her married name aged
32 living in Station Cottage Pontymister Risca (her husband James was
signalman there). She gives her place of birth as Pontypool.
The 1881 census shows no Emily Woodward of Monmouthshire origin so perhaps
she isn't married at this point. The Marriage index in London does not
help. There are no matching Emily Brown and James Woodward over quite a
period. The 1881 census does show one Emily Brown of the correct age
living in Blewett Terrace St. Woolas Newport. But this gives place of
birth as Newport - not Pontypool.
My only hope is that someone else is researching in the area of
Monmouthshire Browns and can throw a bit of light.
She is a key person in my family tree but her and her husband are proving
most elusive!
Ever hopeful...
Alan
