Hi,
I am looking for information on a SAMUEL HARRIS, a farmer from Redwick,
Monmouthshire, Wales, who married HARRIET RUGMAN in the early 1800's. He
had 3
sons George, Archibald and SAMUEL(born 1850) and he married a RACHEL
GALLOWAY in
TREHERBERT Wales in 1871. I have also heard a rumour about someone
marrying
beneath their station and being disinherited but do not know too much
about it.
Was wondering if any relation to the family you are researching?

Hi -- I don't know of any direct connection to your Samuel
Harris, but I'm
also researching Harris farmers in that same area, same era, so maybe you
could keep my names in mind as you research, and I'll keep yours in mind, too.
I am descended from Rachel HARRIS (also known as Rachel THOMAS), who married
Evan HOPKINS (a farmer) in 1838 in Mynyddislyn. The Harrises lived "near the
parish church," it says on her marriage certificate. That's the only address
given.
She was the daughter of Thomas HARRIS, a farmer, who I assume would have been
born around the 1790s.
