I am a new subscriber.
An outline of my interests in Blaina/ Nantyglo is:-
Great grandfather HENRY CROOK born 1804 in Devon married ANGELINA JONES
b 1803 Raglan in 1824 at Newland, Gls.
They moved to " Brewers New Works between Blaina and Nantyglo", just off
the
"Tram Road" in 1834. Henry was a moulder at the Iron Works. He had also
been a
Bible Christian in GLS and a lay preacher. He probably became a Methodist
as there is a reference to him in the Merthyr Circuit Meeting 1841 minutes
of "Crook" being put on Plan.
Children were -HENRY b 1825 New Forest , Gls
-WILLIAM b c 1828 " " "
-SARAH b 1830 " " "
-PHILIP b 1835 Blaina, Mon
-ANGELINA b 1838 d 1839 Blaina
-EMMA b 1840 Blaina
Work at Baileys Iron Works was short in 1847 and the family moved to live
in Mellons Square, Newport in the 1851 census (except Henry b 1825 who was
then married).
Iron Work revived and about 1854 the family moved back to Railway Terrace,
Blaina, Aberystruth (1861census shows Henry 1804, Angelina, Sarah and Emma
at that address).
Several of the above were in USA before the end of 1865, but I haven't
traced them yet.
As this is just an introduction I'll send details of what I know of the
children separately over the next week or so, including my great
grandfather Philip Crook 1835- 1904.
My main problem areas are-
-birth records of the 3 F of Dean children
-where was Henry b 1825 in 1851
-where were Henry 1825,William1828 and Philip 1835 in 1861
-where was Angelina b 1838 buried in 1839
-where and when were Henry senr. and Philip lay/local preachers
Barry Crook (Yorkshire).
