Hi,
This is my first visit to the BlaenauGwent group but I hope to tie in
with somebodys interests.....
I am trying to trace my family tree and know that I have several
ancestors who were living in this area, and quite possibly I still have
some cousins who are in the locality.
The oldest information I have, derives from a certificate of marriage:
Mary Jane THOMAS (born circa 1863, daughter of Isaac THOMAS, a collier)
of Hope Street, Blaina, marries James TAYLOR (born circa 1865, son of
Thomas TAYLOR, an iron founder), a moulder, of Shirstons (?) Row,
Blaina, on June 9, 1889 at Old Blaina Baptist Chapel, Bedwellty.
Among their offspring is Arthur TAYLOR, born April 24 1899 at Queen
Street, Abertillary.
I wonder if you could possibly check to see if you have any record of
this family. I have a tree of some descendants but would very much
appreciate the opportunity of tracing the family line further back in
time.
Of course, if our interests do indeed tally, I would be happy to share
information with you.
