Hi, Harold! Thank you for your information on Forest of Dean. Your
background sounds a great deal like mine. I had always known that my
g-grandfather came from Wales and was a coalminer but I had always been told
that my g-grandmother was born in England, supposedly somewhere around
Lancashire. My cousins and I could never figure out how they met since
Lancashire is not very close to the Welsh border and it just didn't seem
right to me. Now that I have found out where she was REALLY born, it makes
more sense. I still don't know how they met, it was believed that they were
on holiday and met. However, my source for that bit was wrong about several
other points so I don't know how accurate this explanation is. I do know
that my g-grandparents married in Blaina which is in Monmouthshire and lived
there for several years until they immigrated to Pennsylvania in the US.
Their names were James Davies and Dinah Webb and I know they lived on High
St. in Blaina. So, if you are related to a Davies (and I think EVERYBODY
is) or a Webb, we just might be cousins!
Once again, thanks for your help.
Melissa from Texas

Hello Melissa
The Forest of Dean is in Gloucestershire and if you look for Gloucester
you will find the Forest just S W of the city and covers a good piece
of land by our standards
it is a magic place my tree is mainly from the Forest and it had it's
own laws and rules to a degree that applied to people that were born in
the Forest they were know as Foresters It was a area rich in Coal
mining Iron mining and timber and was a very important place
some of my family came from over the border from Wales but I have yet to
track them down but the main area of Wales for my lot is Monmouth
good hunting

In very sunny Doncaster
