To anyone...
My relatives were the HOGARTH's.... I have reason to believe that
they came from the Whitby area.
I have a marriage certificate, dated 1890 from The Parish Church, Parish
of Grosmont showing that Thomas HOGARTH (age 23) married Mary Elizabeth
WHITTERING (age 23). Father of Thomas was Charles Hogarth (a miner).
Father of Mary Elizabeth was James Whittering (a builder). Attending were
Francis Hogarth and Mary Ann Hogarth (relationship unknown). Can you
provide a description of this church...? What is the general area like
today...? Is there an address that I can write to for more information on
other relatives...?
Thomas and Mary Elizabeth eventually immigrated to the USA, but they
left family in England... I did not know the English contingent....
There are a few family fotos from the Whitby area, taken in (probably)
the early 1950's. They are captioned "Quay at Whitby", "The Old
England
Hotel" and several with fotos captioned with first names of Hogarth's (I
believe) Win & Arthur at their "Bungalow"....
Any (and I mean ANY) assistance in locating this branch of my family
would be greatly appreciated... Are there still Hogarth's living in this
area...? Is the Old England Hotel nearby....?
Thank you so much...!
Regards...
