Hello, shwmae B/G Listers,
I feel like I've been away too long, having driven up from Florida through the
smoke and fires burning there over the weekend. <whew> It's good to be back
to the mundane in Maryland!
I have a possible connection to another NEWMAN descendant with whom I am
corresponding via snailmail. His g/grandmother is Elizabeth "Eliza" NEWMAN b.
(circa) 1842 in Nantyglo [from marriage cert. of 1876 to William Henry WATKINS
b. (circa) 1849 at Shire Newton MON.] Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas
NEWMAN, blacksmith. We have no age for Thomas, but assume he was born before
1824. It is very likely this Thomas NEWMAN was a brother or cousin to my
ancestor George NEWMAN who was residing in Nantyglo, at Pen-y-wain, at the
time of the 1841 and 1851 census. The names "Elizabeth" and "Eliza"
both
occur in my NEWMAN line as well, although that proves nothing.
I was wondering if anyone has seen Thomas NEWMAN/Elizabeth "Eliza" NEWMAN on
the 1841 or 1851 census for Nantyglo or local environs?
Any other NEWMAN data cheerfully accepted as well.
Diolch yn fawr,
Larry
