Hi All
You may not know that there is a project called "FreeBMD", to transcribe all
the England and Wales Civil Registration indexes into a data base for FREE
online access. It's a huge job, with
millions of events to transcribe. Each entry has to be transcribed twice by
different transcribers to verify the results for accuracy.
I am a syndicate coordinator for the Dec quarter 1846 marriages, and am
based in New Zealand. At present there is one other volunteer who is a
member of the syndicate and we would really like some more New Zealanders to
join us. I believe that it is a good way to put back into the Genealogy
community something in return for all the help that other members have given
me in my research.
Our syndicate has a sponsor who is willing to underwrite the cost of buying
ALL of the fiche for all events for the year 1846. We would like to make the
year 1846 a New Zealand Project. Volunteers would need access to a fiche
reader and e-mail to participate.
