On their current brochure they state that they can carry out paid
searches up to one hour for people who are unable to attend in person.
For longer searches a list of record agents can be applied.
Among the records held are:-
Monmouthshire Court of Quarter Sessions
Monmouthshire and Gwent County Councils (inc. school records)
Other records dating from 1250 relating to estate, families, business,
etc.
Parish records, births, marriages and burials.
Non-conformist churches.
Maps, enclosure and older Ordinance Survey.
Magistrate and Coroner court records.
Shipping records, Manorial and tithe records.
Microfiche of census 1841-1871, 1891, 1881 census index for the County.
The CRO does *not* hold civil register births, marriages, deaths. (held
at Newport Reference library)
