If you do a google search for "Cosher Bailey's Engine" you will find various
words. I remember a few verses going something like this:
Cosher Bailey had a train
And it was a dreadful strain
For according to its power
Only went four miles an hour
Chorus:
Did you ever saw
Did you ever saw
Did you ever saw such a funny thing before!
Cosher had a brother Rupert
He did play scrum-half for Newport
When they played against Llanelli
Someone kicked him in the...stomach
(Chorus...)
Cosher had a cousin Hannah
Who could play the grand pianner
She went 'ammer 'ammer 'ammer
Bloomin' 'ammer 'ammer 'ammer
Cosher had a cousin Keith
In the rugby team for Neath
He could also play the fiddle
Down the sides and up the middle...
We used to sing this on the school bus going to swimming lessons at Ebbw Vale pool in the
1960's...also some old favourites e.g. Quartermaster's Stores and She'll be
Coming Round the Mountain.
I am not sure if Max Boyce did a version of Cosher Bailey???
You sure brought back some memories!
Jane.

BlankHello Listers. My Mam has an old photo of John Hunt who drove a
Crawshaw Bailey engine. Does anybody know where I can find the words to the
song about Crawshaw Bailey's engine. I know part of the chorus " did you
ever see, did you ever see,did you ever see such a funny thing before" He
lived in Nantyglo. Christine.
