Hello Everyone
I have been reviewing manorial rent rolls covering the Kemeys Estate, and
also the Land Tax Assessments of 1798 for Monmouthshire and parts of
Glamorgan. Unfortunately, tenants requiring to pay rent are only listed
according to parish with no specific location and I would like to identify
the specific tenancy. Can anyone, who has spent time reviewing the manorial
records, tell me in what record might I find the tenant and his tenancy
property listed? Also, regarding freehold rights, would this require a deed
or would the individual simply be listed as a "tenant"?
I would greatly appreciate any information requiring this area of research as
it is relatively new to me. I have several ancestors who were yeoman,
freeholders, and tenants in several manors and would like to hear from those
who have done research in this area.
Regards,
Georgia
