Dear Barrie --
I thank you for this additional information. No one on any of my mail lists has been more
helpful than you, and I very much appreciate it.
I realize that in my haste the other day I said my g-g-grandmother's name was Sarah
Ann when in fact it was _Eliza_ NEWMAN who married William POWELL in Brynmawr. Sarah Ann,
their youngest child, was my g-grandmother. I would have thought I could have recited
that accurately in my sleep, but apparently not -- and don't want to confuse anyone
who may be looking at the maillist archives at some point down the road!
My best,
Judith Sylte

Hi Judith,
Cwmbran CRO do hold some Brynmawr PR's so all will not be lost. Brecon
Library in the Town have census for the county on film only. There are
copies of Brycheniog, the County journal, which is more historic
although from my experience using the index can be rewarding to finding
the area you want.
Powys was the historic county for Brynmawr until 1974 as you know. We at
Ebbw Vale branch of Gwent Family history society try to get our hands on
as much as that area as we possibly can. We have all the census for
those parts.
Last night, while searching our library for another BG lister, I came
across a booklet "150 years of Continuous worship" a resume 1933-1983.
The church was opened in 1833 of course. I believe we have a history of
Calvary in our chapel listings but, as I mentioned to you earlier in the
year, Brynmawr Museum will have a copy. The museum is open Thursday,
Friday and Saturday as I also mentioned to you.
Brynmawr museum have also a community archive which they had donated
from a 'community archive group' in Brynmawr. This consists of
photograph, newspaper, BMD certificates, etc. This community archive
will eventually be put on to a website in time (see http:\\www.comm.NET)
best regards
