Hello Jayne,
Nantyglo is now in Gwent, used to be in Monmouthshire. The parish was known as
Aberystruth, which included Nantyglo, Balina and Abertillery. (NOT to be confused with
Aberystwyth in West Wales). I have links with one of the many Williams families in
Nantyglo - but beware, it is a very common name in Wales! Best of luck with the research.
Best wishes,
Jane Dyer.

Hello list
I have just started to trace my WILLIAMS line which started in
London and which I have now traced back to Nantyglo. I have a Robert Williams
who gives his place of birth as Nantyglo Monmouthshire in the 1871 and 1891
census return. As I know nothing of this area of Wales I was wondering if
someone could kindly answer a few questions for me.
1) what registration district would cover Nantyglo?
2) what is the parish church of someone living in Nantyglo in the 1840's and
are parish registers readily available for this parish?
3) Does anyone have links with the Williams family of Nantyglo?
I eagerly await your replies.
many thanks
Jayne
