Hi Mick,
My grgrandmother, Jane THOMAS, d/o Thomas THOMAS & Mary WILLIAMS also came
to Australia on the "High Flyer " in 1878. She was born at Blaenavon but the
family moved to the Rhondda.
Cheers Delphine in Brisbane.

Hi Les, have we contacted each other before? Your LEWISs who
emigrated to
Australia in 1876, would you know if they were connected to *mine* who
emigrated two years later on board Highflyer? My details of the SMITHs
who
married into a LEWIS family are below : -
Willaim SMITH born 1813, married to a Sarah DAVIES or POWELL on Christmas
Day 1845 in Panteague. They had
six children - Rachel and John were twins born 2/8/1849, William born
17/3/1852, (ggranddad), Elizabeth born Feb 1854, Francis John born 1856
and
Thomas born 1860. It was Elizabeth who married Joseph LEWIS in 1873
and
then went off to Australia aboard the Highflyer in 1878. Ring any bells?
Regards Mick
