I want to thank you people for helping me find my EVANS the Blaina Policeman
I have a story to share with you all.
I have found my Francis John Evans in ITTON Mon.
He has his name as a Frank on the 1881 Census, 15 yrs old born in
ITTON , Dwelling ITTON common. He is with his father James , mother Hannah
(Jones)Hewellsfield Glos, and sisters Isabella and Ruth 13 yrs. There
was a twin called James 15 yrs but he doesnt show up there.
Ruth eventually married a Baker.
I think you will like this following story:
The most amazing thing happened last week .I looked on the
internet white pages for Trevor Baker whose father was the register of
Deaths ,etc in Newport in 1950's (whose relation was the Ruth Evans I
mentioned above . My Mother had told me Trevor was related but we had
lost contact 35 yrs ago when we immigrated to NZ.
I posted a letter to each last Tuesday to the two Trevor Bakers that
showed up as "possibles" and on
Saturday morning a got a phone call from Trevor. He is coming to New
Zealand on 28th June ... he was coming to " find us" isn't that such
an amazing coincidence. If I had delayed writing to him he would have come
to New Zealand and he would never have found us. My Dad is dead and Mum
had remarried , also my 2 sisters and I have married and my brother had
an unlisted phone number. My whole family is thrilled . At long last after
35 years of being in New Zealand a relative is going to visit us this
month.
While I was on the phone to him... of course I had to ask him where
the Evans's were from. He also knew they were from Itton and
apparently James 's
father was from THAME near Oxford . Mum and I went straight up to
Hastings Library on Monday and looked for Evans in Thame on the IGI
fiche. We found an ELIZ Evans marrying a NEELE in Thame.1600's but
couldn't see any other EVANS . Trevor said he will look for our Evans
by visiting Thame one day so I will leave it up to him, but isnt that
great . I can rest easy on the Evans's.
Now I can concentrate on my MAXWELL from Ireland.!!!
