Dear Jim,
I have these Bates at St Peters, Blaenavon. Can't see Bates on St Peters
Blaina, Berea at Blaina or Hermon. I came across a Richard Bates born
Tredegar 1841. I have paper records on Bates families as they lodged
with my Davies's who hailed from Tre- Taliesin, Cardiganshire.

Hello
I am trying to find information on my gt gt grandfathers family,as far as I
know he was one of five children born to John and Mary Bates in Nantyglo in
1831.The other children were Elizabeth,Mary Anne,Jane and William.I know John
and William ended up here in Blaenavon, but have'nt been able to find where
their parents or any of the other children went to.
On 1841 census they were in Blaenant Aberstruyth
Mary Bates age 35 born not Mon
Elizabeth Bates age 15 born Mon
Mary Anne Bates age 8 born Mon
Jane Bates age 6 born Mon
William Bates age 12 born Mon
John Bates age 10 born Mon
I know from Johns's marriage cert his fathers name was John Bates occ,
puddler, but not down as deceased, why was'nt he on this census.I have not
been able to find John, Mary or any of the daughters on later census, or any
birth or marriage records.I would be glad of any help and information, maybe
they are in your family ( hopefully ).
Thanks
Jim.
