Hi Don
Blaenau Gwent is the current name (effective from 1974) of the local government area in
which the town of Tredegar is situated. Earlier civil records (from 1861, I believe) would
be held under the name Bedwellty. I believe that for a time some records would have been
held under Abergavenny, but the old name of the parish covering most of the area was
Aberystruth. Hope that helps!
Mike

Perhaps Mike Thomas has answered the question I tried to post previously --
do old records of families from Tredegar come under Blaenau Gwent?
I'm interested in Alfred Cullimore WILLIAMS and his family. The unusual
middle name, Cullimore (or perhaps Culli*n*more?) hopefully will help in
researching Williamses from Tredegar.
Regards,
Don
