I would guess you will find a Wales 1851 & 1861 Census that willl help,
possibly a 41. No question you have a bunch of BMD records to discover. I
will let our Welsh folk guide you on that side of the water. I can but they
know the system much better.
and yes it can be very addictive as it all starts to make sense.

I took a quick look for you in ancestry searching on Greenaway born Wales
in
US Census. There are a few of them all in coal towns from Wilkes Barre area
down to Pottstown to Huntingdon to Pittsburgh over the years. The latter 3
almost in a line along old route 22. I wouldn't doubt most are relies.
Lot's of stuff to check there. It wouldn't be remiss to search on Greenway
(
I know that isn't correct) but an easy miss by the Ancestry search engine.
