Hello all,
I am new to the list and wonder if anyone shares my interests?
I am searching for CHURCHILL and JAMES families in the area of Llangunider.
Does anyone have the 1861 census who would look up John James aged about 34
married to Mary? John was a minor born in Llangunider.
Kindest regards,
Chris
Hi James!
Nice to see you on this list, too (though I can't think which other I've
seen your name on!).
I can't help you with 1861, but do you have the folks you're looking for in
1851?
There are 2 CHURCHILL families on the CD of the 1851 Census of Breconshire
from Powys Family History Society; Richard & Penny with daughter Hannah
(19), all from Staffordshire, lodging in Brynmawr; and John & Hannah (both
from Somerset) with Monmouthshire-born son John (8), in Beaufort.
If Mary & John JAMES were already married, there's a likely couple (24 & 21)
in Upper Cefn, Vaynor, Glamorgan (both born in the wonderfully specific
Breconshire). Otherwise, there are two other close matches for John: one
LLangynidr-born, visiting a WATKINS family; the other Llanelly-born, at home
as the eldest of 10 kids of James & Rachel JAMES.
If you want any or all of these 1851 entries from the lovely CD of Brecknock
1851, let me know. I also checked in the booklet from the Powys FHS of the
Surname Index of the 1861 Census for the 'Enumeration District (ED) of
Crickhowell', but it only contains the Sub-District (SD) of Crickhowell, not
the other SDs of the Crickhowell ED (ie, not the Crickhowell SDs of Cwmdu,
LLanelly, LLangattock or LLangunider), and there aren't any likely suspects
in it for you.
x Kate.
