Jack,
I can't help with Drew's Houses. I have a copy of the 1881 census of
Aberystruth, which includes Blaina, and these houses are not listed under
this name. If you knew the street name it might help.
When you go to Blaina you should visit the Heritage Centre which is located
in the council offices at the top of High Street. There they have census
copies for 1851 and 1861 and also other interesting collections including
old photographs.
Regards,
John

Subject: [Bla'Gwent] Drew's Houses
Apologies to Webmaster , am a newbie at this ...Can anyone please
tell
me
whether Drew's Houses still exist in Blaina? Just started
looking at
maternal Grandparents history.....Remember visiting them often during the
mid thirties, and climbing over the 'tump' .... Wonderful! ..He was
collier Jack Stevens, wife Margaret (Mag). They had sons Jack and Wilf ,
with daughter Elsie....Also I remember they both played the harmonium
before (and after) Chapel on Sundays. Where will I find electoral rolls
and census info for Blaina. I anticipate visiting within the next month
or so, and any information would be gratefully received. T I A
.......Jack Batham
