Subject: Seeking William and Ann Bevan of Pontnewydd 1851 census and Blaina 1861
I have just rejoined the list after a long break, following a breakthrough in my BEVAN
research. Bevan was my mother's maiden name. I have found an ancestor Ann Elizabeth
BEVAN was born in January 1851 in Pontnewydd Trevethin to William BEVAN and Ann Bevan nee
CONWAY. He is named as a shearer. Is this in the steelworks? as he was a steelworker
later. Please can anyone find any reference to this family in the 1851 census?
I have also been completely unable to find their wedding in the Births marriages and death
records records. Any ideas? She came from county Mayo in Ireland. They moved later to
Blaina, Tredegar and Teeside. Eventually settling in Gateshead.
They were in Blaina in 1861 but I have also been unable to find them there.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thank you in anticipation
Diana
