My very grateful thanks go out to Helen. she has sent me the census
images of my JONES family for both 1841 & 1851. These were sent via
Ancestry so I don't know how to thank Helen personally.
These images show that Ann JONES was already a widow in 1851, but Evan
is there in 1841. I also have a much larger family of children to
research in two extra counties, but I'm happy to be getting somewhere,
who wouldn't be with JONES especially as my direct ancestor is John
JONES. :-)
With thanks,
Cathy in South Australia
Hi Cathy Hope these help - wouldn't like to be researching Jones! Helen

If anyone has access to the full 1851 census, could you please look for
Evan JONES in Rhymney for me. In searching for the parents of my John
JONES born about 1848 in Rhymney, and already married and away from his
family in the 1871 census, I've been checking out the John JONES age
about 12 in the 1861 census on pieces 4001 and 4002 that seems to cover
Rhymney,. I've found one family where the wife is already a widow, and
I'd love to know if she was married to an Evan JONES, as this would be a
match with christenings on the St David's Parish Register index. In the
1861 census they are:-
1861 census, Piece 4001, Folio 90, Page 10, 3 Colliers Row, Rumney,
Bedwelty.
JONES, Ann, widow, 45, Fitting Coal, born Carmarthen...
Amelia, daughter, 15, Working a Patch, born Rumney, Monmouthshire
John, son 12, Haulier, born Rumney, Monmouthshire
In the christenings Amelia and John are children of Evan and Ann JONES,
Collier of Twyncarno.
There are also two burials in the index of Evan JONES of Twyncarno, 1)
age 41 in 23 Nov 1849 and 2) age 48 in 18 Dec 1855.
