G'day list readers, Peter Williams, Veronica and others
Well, it's like talking to myself!! Peter, was that you in your list, born
1945? If so, you have a 15 year head start on me!! I regret to inform that
my Williams ancestry comes from Cornwall, and it is my mother's family
(surnames JAMES and EDMUNDS amongst others) that is Welsh. Nevertheless,
there are plenty of Welsh Williamses scattered throughout my tree. For
example:

born ca 1826 Colwinstone GLA
marr ca 1856 to
Rachel EDMUNDS of Bedwellty MON
d/o Thomas EDMUNDS (ca 1795-1872) & Jane LAWRENCE (ca 1801-1879)
born ca 1827 Bedwellty
bapt 8 Mar 1836 Bedwellty
died Dec qtr 1902 Pontypridd
bur Glyntaff Cemetery
4 sons
1/ Abraham WILLIAMS coal hewer b ca 1857 Eglwysilan
2/ Richard WILLIAMS elementary board school master b ca 1864 Eglwysilan,
mar & had sons
3/ Edmund WILLIAMS coal hewer b ca 1866 Eglwysilan
4/ David Lawrence WILLIAMS railway porter and draper's assistant b Jun qtr

Another example:

marr 7 Jan 1830 Bedwellty to
Margaret EDMUNDS
d/o Charles EDMUNDS (ca 1760-1834) & Catherine MORGAN (ca 1763-1837)
born ca 1799 Bedwellty
died 12 May 1882 Bedwellty
bur St Sannan's
5 children (with lots of WILLIAMS descendants)
And another:
Richard WILLIAMS agricultural labourer, stone quarry man
(suspect he is brother to Howell above)
born ca 1791 Thaal, Llanelli BRE
marr 9 Dec 1826 Bedwellty to
Mary EDMUNDS
(sister of Margaret above)
born ca 1801 Bedwellty
died after 1881
no children
I won't go on, though I could.
Veronica - My late grandmother used to worship at Caersalem Baptist Chapel.
Her mother was Agnes JAMES nee DAVIES (1878-1956). Agnes was married 17 Apr
1901 at Pentrebach to William Arthur JAMES (1871-1948). He was a coal mine
contractor and they lived at 11 School Street, Aberbargoed. The name of the
minister officiating at their wedding was PETER WILLIAMS!! And, I share a
birth date with Agnes (29 August). Spooky, huh? If you obtain the MIs for
Caersalem, may I beg a lookup?
Cheers

Dear Peter J Williams,
I have seen your posts and wondered if there was any possible connection
between our two Williams families. I know that this must be a very long
shot in Wales, but one lives in hope!! I think I posted my Williams
pedigree some time ago, but in case you missed it here it is below.
It would be great to hear of your family; I could always keep an eye open
for possible when wading through all the records!!
