I cannot help specifically, but am struck by the parallel movement of
my family in the same period.
In my family Elias Roderick, b. 1804 in Blaenavon Mon., moved from
Blaenavon to Staffordshire where he married Lydia Hunt, had children
there, moved back to Blaenavon, had more children, then moved to
Cwmavon, and then moved back to Staffordshire where he died. One of
his sons was named Enoch, the first time that name was used in our
family, and it is quite clearly a Black Country name. Elias Roderick's
brother was a collier, but he was throughout most of his life an iron
worker. I am struck by the parallels with this Shaw Family.
I will guess that Ann Shaw's parents had the same Welsh background, and
that her parents from Blaenavon or nearby moved to Staffordshire, from
Monmouthshire.
