Hi John
The
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl web-site provides details of the
following marriage:-
MAR 1903 Albert Edward Griffiths Bedwelty 11a 160
Also listed on the same page is a Mary Ann Hicks. The only way to be certain is
to order the certificate with a check point that the wife's christian names are
Mary Ann. It is also advisable to check the register entry number either with
the central registry in London or the local office where the certificate was
originally issued. In this instance the Bedwelty records are now held in the
Blaenau Gwent district office - The Grove, Church Street, Tredegar, NP22 3DS;
Tel: 01495 722305.
In case the marriage was not this one there are other entries for the period,
further afield in Wales and elsewhere:-
JUNE 1901 Albert George Griffiths Cardiff 11a 736
(Mary Ann E. Mathias?)
MAR 1902 Albert Griffiths Swansea 11a 1323
(Mary Ann Williams?)
MAR 1902 Albert Griffiths Gloucester 6a 530
(Mary Ann Gabb?/Mary Henderson?)
The marriage certificate should provide a lot of useful genealogical
information, including address, occupations, fathers' names and occupations,
plus confirm the wife's surname and, possibly, both partners' ages - if
you're
lucky!
I hope this helps
Regards

Subject: [BLAENAUGWENT] Albert GRIFFITHS Circ 1880 Ebbw Vale area
Hi all,
I haven't been on this list for quite some while as my research started
moving East and then North!
Anyway, I'm trying to help out a friend researching an Albert GRIFFITHS of
Ebbw Vale.
I realise this is a long shot because the information to hand is rather
vague, but it's worth the shot,
Rather than re-writing her message to me, I'll reproduce it below and any
help would be gratefully received and passed on.

This seems to be an awful lot of trouble to put you to. I don't know much,
unfortunately. But - here goes:
Albert Griffiths
He must have been born around 1880. I am only assuming it was in Ebbw Vale.
He married a lady whose Christian name was Mary-Ann, in the early 1900s, I
would guess about 1905. They lived in Ebbw Vale, and had five children all
born there: Albert was the oldest. Frederick Charles (born 16.12.1908);
Doris; Horace and Tommy.
Albert Griffiths joined the Army (? South Wales Borderers) in WW1, and
survived being gassed on the Somme, though I do not think he ever worked
again. He and his wife parted, though he always lived close to where the
family lived in Ebbw Vale.
He turned very religious. He was a Chapel man - I think Methodist.
He was still alive in the early 1950s, and living either in Ebbw Vale, or
very close to it.
I don't like lumbering you with this. If you think I ought to pass on the
web-site, I'll do that.
