Thank you so much, Barb! I think this very possibly is indeed my Great Grandmother; I
also know she had a sister Mary. I found myself almost teary as I read that at 15 she was
an iron mine filler and my Gr. Gr. Grandmother was a washerwoman. Rough life but probably
no different than those around them. I wonder what happened to the husband? Possibly
killed in the mines....and I wonder about workhouses....
much to look into and thank you again!
Susanna

Hello all ...I'm rather new to this
site but have been following the queries and comments for a
while. I am interested in your query, Jonathan, in that my
Great Grandmother, Susannah Prince, was born in Brynmawr in
1832. I traveled there when in Wales a few years ago but
wasn't able to find any information. My family were
non-conformists, and I've found the chapels in the small
villages didn't always keep records in the 19th C.
So I, too, would love to know the best way to research
this as I was named after my G. Grandmother who later
married Samuel Greenaway and lived in Garndyfaith (Sp?) near
Pontypool.

Hi,
After a very long break from research owing to illness, I
have started
to dig again :-)
Can anyone offer any information regarding William LEGG
b.1821 Panteg,
who I believe married a lady name Mary of Llanfrechfa
Upper ?
