I may have a Miles ancestor from this area. My ggg-grandmother was an
Elizabeth Williams (b. Aberystruth c 1790). Her unmarried sister was Hannah
Jones, and the only IGI record that fits is for the birth of an Elizabeth
Jones to William Jones. Even more tenuously, the only marriage on IGI that
fits is for William Jones and Margaret Miles. I have wondered if she would
be connected to the Penycae Mileses. I suspect that it will never be
possible to prove one way or another.
If there are any sources of information about Mileses, Williames or Joneses
(why did they all have such common manes?), I would love to find some
concrete facts to add to the speculation.

Hi Joan, Christine et al,
I have also been researching the Miles family of Aberystruth (mostly
buried
at Llanhilleth) which includes that particular William Miles of the
Rhydyblew. My connection is Jane Miles who married Edmund Henry in 1796.
Edmund's first cousin Thomas Henry kept the Rhydyblew in the 1820's/1830s
and he was succeeded by his sister Cecilia and her husband Thomas Bevan.
Jane Miles was born in Llanelly in 1773, daughter of William Thomas Miles
and his wife Gwenllian but I have not yet found their marriage or
William's
baptism. His name appears to be patronymic so I suspect his father
was
Thomas Miles. His wife Gwenllian (as a widow) is mentioned in Bradney in
connection with the old Miles' of Aberystruth at Penycae where her
daughter
and son-in-law lived.
Best wishes
James Phillips-Evans
