Dear Audrey,
I will leave it to the other "listers" to give you advice about searching for
records. But I can say the weather is usually very pleasant end of September/beginning of
October, with autumn starting, temperatures in the day can be up to around 15 degrees c,
and there is usually still some sunshine. Quite often there is an "Indian
summer" with warmer temperatures. Mornings and evenings start to be chilly though and
you will need an umbrella. You will probably need to consider hiring a car, as public
transport in the South Wales valleys is not very versatile.
I grew up near Abertillery and now live away, but always try and visit home around the
time you mention. The landscapes are very beautiful with the changing colours.
Have a great trip!
Jane Dyer.
