Hi Barrie
The Sarah Hillier I referred to was indeed from Blaina. However she was born
Sarah Matilda Boycott in 1873/4. She married a William george Hillier in
1895, and they had one daughter, Elsie Annie born 1897. William's father was
from Frome and his mother from Twickers!
My Tiley's were generally one "l" yes, in the 1891 census the name was
written as "tyle" though, almost gives it a welsh appearance?
There were other Cooksey families around this area, I know very little of
the 20th century Cookseys in this area though, so whether they are related
or not I don't know.
I knew some Cripps myself, was in school with one, and his father was a
well-known coach driver for Hill's of Tredegar.
Cheers Barry, take care, Jon
BTW Rob's CD is out tomorrow ...there's a brill genealogy type song in it
where he tells the brief story of his grandfather, father, and himself now
as a grandad with his own grandson. I'll never forget the first time I heard
it, brought a flaming big lump to my throat and a tear or two to the eyes
(not ashamed to admit it), as I've met his grandson, Aaron. What a gorgeous
kid!
