Subject: [Bla'Gwent] HOT and FIRERY XMAS
Hello Listers,
Just a few line to let you know about our bush fires
arround Sydney.
These fires started in our Blue Mountains which is 60 Kms west of
Sydney and the coast. We have heard it was deliberately lit by someone.
The temperature during the day is up to 36 deg C and as we have had no
rain for months its is very dry.
The area where we live is 6Km from the mountains on what is fairly
level ground cut up in small farms of 5 to to 25 Acres and some larger
properties which are mainly used for graizing Cattle and Horses, and a
few small towns with houses in 1/4 acre blocks We have 61 Acres where we
graze Horse and a few cattle and my 2 daughters also live on this
property
The fires started in the Mountains over a 20 Km front .Burning some and
leaving others , as the wind changes direction . the fire crossed the
Nepean River south of Penrith and burnt property at Mulgoa, Wallacia ,
Warragamba , Luddenham, and continued east towards St Marys ,where it
has been contained, but further south the fire has moved through grass
land and scrub East to the coast, Roads have been blocked by Police as
the fire raged.
We were told to be prepared to evacuate our houses as the fire was just
across the road from us, but forunately the winds changed, and after
hoseing our houses and surrounds untill 2 am Wednesday morning we went
to bed.
This is when we wonder what a Cold and snowy Xmas would be like
Otherwise we are now ok, but I had my computer disconected ready to go
could not lose my Family details etc
Regards to all
