Dear Listers
Thank you for the advice re the fact that the names I am researching are, unfortunately,
fairly common. I was not sure what was common and what was not in Wales.
Here is further information:
MORRIS- My g-g-g-grandfather was a John MORRIS and I am certain that he was born in
Kington (or Kingston), Hereford in around 1828. His son, my g-g-grandfather, also John
MORRIS was born in Nantyglo in 1856. The siblings, born in Nantyglo and Ebbw Vale, were
Thomas (1853), James (1862), Mary Jane (1869), Edwin (1871) and Elizabeth (1873). John snr
married Sarah ROBERTS who was born in Glasbury, Radnorshire in about 1830. Her father was
probably Thomas ROBERTS. However, his name may have been Probert.
GREENAWAY-I am researching my g-g-g-grandmother, Leah GREENAWAY, who was probably born in
1835 in Newbridge, Glamorgan. Her father was Henry GREENAWAY. She moved to the Bedwelty
area sometime after her birth and later married a Hezekiah HARVEY IN 1867. However, my
g-g-grandmother, Sarah HARVEY (who married John MORRIS jnr) was not fathered by Hezekiah
and was born prior to his and Leah's marriage.
The Sarah HARVEY referred to above took up the maiden name EDWARDS, instead of HARVEY,
later in life. I know nothing about this EDWARDS that Leah GREENAWAY ppobably had some
association with prior to Sarah's birth.
Are there any connections out there?
