There was a discussion on another list about the Old Blaina Chapel's actually being
the Salem Baptist Church, built 1848; however, my gg gps were married in the Old Blaina
Chapel in 1840.
In a memoir of my gg gf, written for the 1881 BG Eisteddfod, it says: "...He was
married at Blaenau Gwent on April 18th, 1840 and this was the second wedding in this place
but the first in the present chapel which was built the previous year. The Reverend John
Lewis was the first who married in this place of worship and his wedding was celebrated in
the chapel." (My gg gps were married by the Rev. Lewis.) Is this it?

bla0013.jpg 768x512x16M The building on the right was formerly the Old Blaina
Baptist Church. This building was referred to by ban as the old band hall. I haven't
got all the details on this yet. East
Anybody know anything about this chapel? Thanks. Esther
