Keith,
Passports:
Here is a link to the U.S. National Archives about
passports. IF young Sarah did have a passport, you can
search LDS microfilm indexes and possibly find her.
Passports were not required until 1941, so I don't
know what the chances are that she would have applied
for one (or her mother, I should say... for her).

Passenger Lists:
For vessels arriving in the UK from non-European
ports, the Public Record Office in London holds
passenger lists for the period 1878-1960.
Marriage Records:
Statewide civil registration for Pennsylvania
marriages did not begin until 1906, but individual
counties often began a little earlier. For Lackawanna
County, they supposedly started in 1878. But I have
seen other sources that say 1885! Here is where you
can write or call:
Marriage Bureau, Lackawanna County Courthouse, 200
North Washington Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503; (570)
963-6702
"Marriage Records from 1878 and Probate Records from
1878"
Someone else in the area may have more up-to-date
information. I live in Florida, but I have searched
for my Scottish immigrant family in Pennsylvania. It's
not easy!

per the 1891 census sarah ann aged 8 born Hyde park

thomas and widowed mother mary jones (born)nantyglo)
aged32. at 26 garn road nantyglo , to the rear of
the pub.

the USA a short time after april 19881
Free bmd is almost complete for the years 81-83 and
i cannot find a mary thomas/?jones marriage in that
time scale in Bedwellty or Crickhowell districts
I would be grateful for any reply toany of the
following questions or for any other info
Would Sarah Ann be an american citizen with passport
rights etc
and would such records exist?
What, if any birth records exist for hyde park
scranton for 1883?
Do any marriage records exist for the area?
Would anyone have any knowledge of passenger lists
for arrivals in the uk or from departures from PA?
