Hi listers,
I've been looking for my great and great great grandmothers, in the 1871 census for
quite some time, and have just this moment found them!
The details I had were that Thomas Holder married Elizabeth Powell in 1877 Abergavenny RD.
The 1881 census had Elizabeth born 1852, and her daughter Annie Powell born 1869 was
recorded as Thomas's step-daughter.
So,as Elizabeth's age was consistent throughout the 1881/91/01 censuses, I tried
opening up my search criteria as far as possible, searching for any Eliz* and no surname
specified, born 1852 in Wales with the keyword set to Bed* in case of typoes on Bedwellty
as it is said that was the area where she came from.
Finding their surname Powell with one l? Elizabeth as Eliza and Annie as Ann was what made
this searching so hard for so long. but I've found them! A great way to finish off
2007 me thinks?
From the ancestry index:
1871 census: Blaina, Monmouthshire,
Wales.
RG10; Piece: 5317; Folio: 77; Page: 38.
Eliza Powel, Lodger, 19, Nantyglo, Monmouthshire.
Ann Powel, Daughter, 2, Brynmawr, Monmouthshire.
As I'm blind, I can't access info on the census image such as address,
occupations, marital status etc, so if someone sober enough who has the time to transcribe
the household image for me is willing to do so, I would be so very very grateful.
Thanks very much in advance for any help.
Kindest regards to all on the list,
Jon
