Dear all,
Tonight at 7pm Tredegar Libraries Local studies have an official opening
ceremony. Unfortunately, by invitation only. After many years setting up
the reference library, Janet Karn has finally been 'promoted' to Local
Studies librarian, a position she has unofficially held for many years!
Frank Olding, BG Heritage Officer; Roy Noble (BBC Wales) and Janet Karn
herself are the official speakers.
Myself, Brenda and Eric Smith will be representing Gwent Family History
(Ebbw Vale Branch) and also Ebbw Vale and District Digital Community
Archive Group.
The exhibition that we have laid on as a family History Society is based
on our 'Beaufort collection', which we bought off Gwent Records Office
some years ago.
The Community Archives is based on 'Then and now" , again mainly
Beaufort area which we used in 2002 for an exhibition.
Other attendees are Cwm Archive group, Brynmawr Community Archive Group
and Museum, British Steel (Corus) museum, Chartist Historical Society
(Blaina), Gerald Davies cameras, Trevor the Milk M.B.E. collection of
milk churns, etc. Tredegar Community Archive group . Other exhibitors I
will mention in another Email.
The exhibition, I understand, will be available to be viewed at the
library from Wednesday until Saturday 22nd October 2005
On Saturday(22nd October) , Ebbw Vale Branch will be holding a Help desk
at the library from 10pm-4pm. We will be dealing with queries of our own
county of Monmouthshire and also the adjoining counties of Powys and
Glamorgan.
Pleased to see you all.
