is researching this family, in fact my next door neighbour is also descended
from this family. I was also contacted a few months ago by an elderly
lady from Bedford whose grandfather Thomas England was also conected
to the Pitman
The Pitman family we believe may have come up from Somerset and
settled around Mathern. Caerwent & Portskewett area in the very early
1700's and their surname was spelt Pickman
