Hi
I am a new member to this site and not sure how it works, but here goes! I
am researching my family tree and have managed to trace my GGG grandparents
back to Brynmawr.
They were "FORDS" and were listed on the 1851 census as living in Beaufort
St (grocer) by trade. They travelled here from London somewhere between
1847-1850 so not sure what brought them to Brynmawr!
The parents names were William and Anne.
They had a large family; William, John, David, Frederick, jane, Sarah, Grace
and Henry.
They eventually lived in Greenland cottage.
Sarah had a baby boy in 1871 out of wedlock called Frederick Wm. The baby is
listed on the 1881 census still living with the grandparents, but no sign of
Sarah.
William and Ann (the parents) eventually died at the ripe old age of 75 and
81 in 1885 and the death cert. documents that they died in Llangattock
workhouse,
If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction to trace any
of the family i would be extremely grateful!
best wishes
Carole Rankin
