Hi Margaret,
These are my gggrandparents, Many many thanks. I'm not aware that George
was Phoebes 2nd marriage although I have a feeling that she had a stepfather
and that might explain the name change. Thanks again,
Wendy

Hi Wendy
There are no Hartsons in the 1881 Census for South Wales but your Phoebe
Hartson may have married and so changed her last name. Could this be her?
Dwelling: Chapel Row, Aberystruth, Mon.
Phoebe J. Purnell, Head, married, age 20, b. Machen, Glam.
Henrietta Purnell, age 2 months, b. Cwmtillery, Mon.
The next entry, also Chapel Row, appears to belong to Phoebe's husband:
George Purnell, Head, married, age 22, b. Sutton, Somerset.(No occupation
given.)
I don't know whether the baby's crying drove him next door, or maybe it
should really be just one entry. Perhaps they couldn't decide who was Head
of
the household!
The source for both entries is:

Best wishes
