Hi Mike, this is a bit of a wild chance ! !
I have a William SMITH of Monmouthshire, possibly Pontypool marrying a
Sarah/Sahra POWELL about December 1845 in the Parish Church at Panteague.
William was living at Hyscuborycoed and she, Penrheol. Both fathers names
were John.

Subject: [Bla'Gwent] Look-up William JONES, Trosnant, Pontypool
Hello List
I first posted this on the Monmouthshire list - but got no replies - I
guess
JONES genealogy is pretty scary! I also have a nagging doubt that
Pontypool
is maybe a bit borderline (?) for Blaenau Gwent - please excuse the
intrusion if this is therefore out of area.
I wonder could SKS with access to the 1851/ 61/ 71 census for Pontypool
(especially the Trosnant St/ Crumlin St/ Albion Rd Area) have a look for
my
g.g grandfather William JONES, collier, born 1847 and son of William
JONES,
a haulier? I am particularly interested in finding out William
junior's
mother's name.
William JONES (junior) was married 3rd July 1877 to Miriam POWELL (born
1854, Panteg, father Henry POWELL, collier (I know his siblings & parents
who lived in Lower Race) in Zion
Chapel, Trosnant "according to the rites and ceremonies of the Baptists".
William JONES senior is marked as deceased on the marriage certificate.
The
witnesses were Richard JONES and Joseph JONES (maybe not brothers?)
and
the
minister was David LEWIS.
Grateful for any assistance such the whereabouts of Zion Chapel, Trosnant
and a look-up if possible
Regards
Mark Breeze
