I agree -
I am not holding my breath any longer waiting for
Ancestry.com to correct the more than 36,000 entries
that have Somalia as the place of birth, rather than
Somerset! I think I wrote to them about that issue
more than a year ago, but it has not been corrected. I
hope that 1837online is more responsive.

broad search and narrow it down by using refine
search. I don't know why, it must be bacause of the
algorithms they use. Another tip is to use wildcards
like tred* for tredegar - this will catch some
spelling mistakes at least. On the 1837online
version of 1861 Mynyddislwyn is consistently
misspelt mynyddyslwyn, I,ve sent a correction which
they quickly acknowledged but heaven knows how many
errors there are. I'm an old university researcher
and we reckoned on 3% errors in anything that wasn't
double entered or proofread.
