Hi,
I have just joined this list and am looking for anyone with the name Maddy in the Blaenau
Gwent area. I am basically looking for any evidence of Maddys living in
Bedwellty,Tredegar around 1830's. I believe my family were related to Prices and
Lewis's in that era and am wondering if an Evan Maddy who was living in Bedwellty
around the 1830's, was living with any of these people as in 1832 he went back to
Llanfilo, Brecon where he was born and married an Elizabeth Lewis from Talgarth. Does
anyone know if there were Banns put in a local Church in Bedwellty for 24 September 1832
at St Bilo's Church Llanfilo?
My great Uncle Evan Maddy lived in Tredegar in Iron Street in the 1860's. I do have
that family line but would be interested to know what happened to his wife Sarah. Evan
died in 1888 but I can find no trace of Sarah although his son Thomas still lived in
Tredegar for some years after that.
Hoping there is someone out there that can help.
Best wishes
Sue in Suffolk (nee Maddy)
I know a Paul Maddy who lives in Tredegar.
I think his father was Ivor Maddy
