In 1856 at Hermon Chapel in Nantyglo, George Strong of Blaina married Sarah Broom Stratton of Blaina. His father was "Thomas Strong, deceased".
In 1863 at Old Blaina Chapel in Blaina, Mary Ann Strong of Blaina married George Latcham of Cwn Celyn. Her father was "Thomas Strong, deceased".
I've been unable to identify Thomas Strong in the 1841 or 1851 census, or in that area in the BMD index.
Are there any local records that might be helpful? I will be very grateful for any information or clues.
(These families came to Girardville, PA, a coal mining town.)
Thanks!
My Great Grandfather was James Dando who was born in Vartage Wales, 4 April,
1839.
He married a Sarah Price who was born in 1841 In Blaen Avon, Wales. Sarah
was born in Blaen Avon, Wales.
These Dando's ended up in Frostburg, MD where they got jobs in the local
coal mines.
James Dando then became head bookeeper for the Consolidated Mines.
Eventually most of James Dando's sons got better jobs than working at the
Coal Mines.
James died 18 Dec 1905, in Frostburg, Allegany County, MD.
My daughter and I went to Wales one year to find the Dando's. We only found
one but we also found a friend who did a lot of research for me after we'd
returned to the USA.
Anyone Interested in this family let me know.

Hello Jon,
Although I haven't yet seen my message on the digest list, you have
obviously seen it already. I thank you so much for finding this family
in the 1851 census, Richard with wife Gwenllian, so it looks like I had
found their marriage in 1838. With another generation back I shall now
be able to send for their marriage certificate, and sadly look for the
death of Gwenllian a few years later, I suspect with her following
childbirth.
Thanks again, I really do appreciate it so much.
Regards,
Cate
Hello,
I'm having difficulty finding my JONES ancestors (no surprise there) I'm
looking for the marriage of Richard JONES born about 1820 in
Montgomeryshire, but I think that he probably married somewhere close to
the Monmouthshire/Glamorganshire border as three children with widowed
Richard in 1861 are Ann born about 1846 Bedwelty, John born about 1848
Glamorgan, & William born about 1851 Glamorgan. Richard is 41 in the
1861 census.
I can't find Richard in the 1841 census and I haven't access to the 1851
with FindMyPast as they don't have it as yet.
I have no idea who he married as it's nigh on impossible to find the
births registrations of his children from among so many JONES's.
I did find a possible marriage which could fit, of Richard JONES married
Gwenllian ELIAS with a registration of Jun 1838 Abergavenny 26 13, but
this is just one of so many possible marriages on FreeBMD and I'd like
to be a bit more hopeful before I send for a certificate.
Please if anyone has a marriage index or access to the 1851 census for
this area I would appreciate a lookup to hopefully find his wife.
Regards,
Cate

Subject: Bamford
I am looking for the 1891 and 1901 census entries for Francis Newham Bamford. I believe that the family was living in Brynmawr. His wife's name was Lillian A. and he worked for the railway. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Glen
Hi listers, my g grandfather WALTER BEVAN died of a fall on 21 December 1940. The Coroner was W.R. DAURCEY Coronor for Monmouthshire Abergavenny District, the inquest held 24 December 1940.
Is there anyone on the list that knows, if it is possible to get a copy of the report please? And if so where and who should I contact?
I also have ALFRED ROSE died 2 November 1901. Inquest held 4 November 1901, certificate recieved from C DAUNCEY (I think the spelling is correct), Deputy Coronor for Monmouthshire. Is it possible to get a copy of this report also?
I have the death certs for them both.
Good luck in your searches
