Hi folks!
Does anyone know anything of the ancestry of Mrs Annie-Mary DAVIES of
Tafarnaubach? Her husband was killed in an accident at Pochin Colliery in
1922 and buried at Siloam Chapel, (but I can't find his Memorial Inscription
in the Gwent FHS fiche of the MIs for this chapel's graveyard, to find out
his name).
Their sons were Thomas, Arthur, and twins Morlais & Ieuan L. DAVIES (born
1916). Annie-Mary may also have had a daughter or daughter-in-law (D-L)
Gladys, possibly a D-L, Maud, and did have a D-L, Marion, the wife of Ieuan
DAVIES.
Ieuan, recently deceased, was well-known in the area, especially as
Conductor of the Tredegar Orpheus, and in 1987 wrote an interesting booklet
called "Tafarnaubach: Memories of a Welsh Village".
Annie-Mary was a cousin to David MORGAN (b.1878 - d.1964), the illegitimate
son of Mary MORGAN (later Mrs JAMES), by one of the sons (probably William)
of William MORGAN(S) & Margaret, nee JONES, of Pond Cottage, Tafarnaubach.
This suggests that Annie-Mary was probably a MORGAN by birth, but might have
been a PROSSER, less likely, as the Anns in the PROSSER line were usually
named after Annabetha PROSSER nee MORGAN, by a variant spelling, such as
Anna Betha or Hannah Bertha.
There was an "Anna M MORGAN", born abt 1890/1891 in GLA Treherbert, staying
with her uncle, Thomas MORGAN, greengrocer & shopkeeper in Tafarnaubach, in
the 1901 Census.
The two sons of William & Margaret MORGAN(S) most likely to have been the
father of Annie-Mary are:
Daniel JONES or MORGAN (b.~1844 BRE LLandulas/Newchurch), who married Sarah
OWEN(S) (b.~1844 MGY Carno, step-daughter of David EVANS), and had a son
David William MORGAN (b.Jun Qr 1883 BRE Tafarnaubach);
Henry MORGAN (b.~1865 BRE Tafarnaubach), who married Jane MORGAN (b.~1862
Glamorgan), and had a son William MORGAN (b.~1888 BRE Tafarnaubach).
William & Margaret had other sons, but they aren't such likely suspects for
various reasons.
Does anyone know how many pieces there are in these genealogical jigsaw
puzzles, or why they don't come with a picture on the box?
Kate.
Hi folks!
David John PRICE was alive in April 1964, when he attended the funeral of
his brother-in-law, David MORGAN of the Dukestown Working Men's Club in
Picton Road, Dukestown.
David MORGAN, born in August 1878 in Tafarnaubach, was the illegitimate
half-brother of David John's wife, formerly Miss JAMES.
Their mother was Mary JAMES, nee MORGAN(S), and they had other siblings,
including John JAMES, and possibly a brother Daniel.
Mrs PRICE nee JAMES was not at her half-brother's funeral with her husband,
so was perhaps already deceased.
The JAMES family is thought to have emigrated to the USA (near Youngstown,
Ohio) at some time after 1885, but some or all of them returned to the
Dukestown / Tafarnaubach area before all the children fled the nest.
David MORGAN was abandoned by his mother at birth, and raised by his
paternal grand-parents, William MORGAN(S) & Margaret, nee JONES, at Pond
Cottage, Tafarnaubach.
I am seeking any further information on these people, particulary Mary
JAMES, nee MORGAN(S) (my great-great-grandmother).
Best wishes,
Kate.
Hi folks!
Below is a rough family tree of the descendants born by 1901, of William
MORGAN & Margaret JONES, who migrated to Tafarnaubach in the early 1850s.
If anyone has any knowledge of, or interest in, this family, I would be
pleased to hear from you.
Fingers crossed!
Kate.

Dear Listers,
This is a long shot but does any one have this person or his descendants in
their tree or know of descendants who might still be in the area. The family

Josiah George Davies, age 30, born Cardigan - Policeman
Catherine, wife,31, Mon.
George, son, 7, Mon.
John, son,3, Mon.
Josiah, son, 2, Mon.
Amelia, dau, 9m, Mon.
Best wishes to all,

permit me to suggest to Ted powell, that perhaps asking for assistance
from your LDS friend might be a good way to get them started
as well as get some free training.
Hi Kate,
Yes, you got that all correct! I've been waiting 3 months now to find who
all these kids belong to in the 1861 index, whether they're my GG Aunts &
Uncles or part of another family. The index doesn't give the relationships
or if they were even in the same house.
I'm glad I could help out! At least obtaining the wrong 1871 was a lot of
help to many requests.
My GG GF Thomas ISAAC hasn't been an easy fellow to deal with. The census
ages haven't been consistent (between 1808-1811), he was married twice and
has kids from both marriages, and I can't find a birth record where he says
he was born (Llanwenog, CGN). I can only find one in 1809 in Cilgerran, PEM
(father Isaac EVAN)

Hi Kate,
These are the ones that I did find! Fortunately for you, they sent the
wrong piece of 1871. I needed the other one. So, as you got your
information, I came home empty and will have to wait until the correct one
comes in again! :-)))))))))))))
